HANDY GaP Water
Softener Air Gap
The quality solution for water softener discharge
lines
The Handy GaP device is a quality answer for
water softener discharge lines.
It's ideal for use with all makes and models of
residential water softeners running to floor drains.
Air
gaps are important but can cause headaches
When you install a water softener with a floor drain,
an air gap for the discharge line is a important part
of the job. The air gap keeps drinking water and waste
or sewer water separate. More to the point: The air
gap prevents the water softener's discharge water from
contaminating your fresh water supply. This is why
all water softener manufacturers recommend an
air gap.
Until now, you needed to fabricate an air gap when
using the floor drain for softener discharge. Hose
clamps, copper straps, L brackets bending this way and
that and electrical tape. You know what I'm
talking about.
Unfortunately, this is where even the most
conscientious, well-intentioned installers can
despair.
Not only does fabricating an air gap add 10-15
minutes to your install job (assuming you have the
parts with you), the end result is often lacking.
If it's mounted on a floor drain, it's eventually
going to be stepped on, kicked or otherwise dislodged.
A mish-mash of tube and pipe, it looks haphazard
and unprofessional.
Worse still, the softener discharge tube may
become dislodged from the floor drain and cause
flooding.
Now, for the good news: You can
meet manufacturer air gap recommendations and give
your install a clean, professional look with the
Handy GaP water softener air gap.
